Dalian Shell Museum

Port Arthur

Also known as Lushun, which is a wish for safe sailing and a favorable voyage, Port Arthur is a historical and scenic spot surrounded on three sides by the sea. Once you are in Port Arthur, make sure you visit the Garden of Lions and Tigers, Island of Snakes, Bird Station at the volcano Laotie Hill, Russo-Japanese war site, Lushun museum, White Jade hill, cemeteries and memorials or martyrs and loyalists, and the World Peace Park. Also ensure that you obtain special permission from the local police before you visit Port Arthur, as it is an important military port and not open to foreign tourists.

Russian Culture Street

Tiger Beach Ocean Park

Situated close to the Tiger Beach, the Tiger Beach Ocean Park is one of the must-visit places in Dalian. Also known as Laohutan Ocean Park, this park has the largest polar aquarium in the world.

One of the other attractions in the park is the larger than life and elaborate sculpture of a group of six Chinese tigers. The Ocean Park also has the world’s largest coral exhibition hall. Xiangshui Temple

Xiangshui -- meaning sound of spring water -- is a popular Taoist temple in Dalian and is also known as Yunshui temple. Built during the Tang Dynasty and later renovated once during the era of the Qing dynasty, this temple has a natural cave 40 meters deep, which is one of the main attractions here. Listen carefully and you can hear the echo of the sound of the spring water as it hits the stones in the cave, which is how the temple derived its name, Xinagshui. This temple is also known to host a number of vibrant religious celebrations.

Xinghai Park

Zhongshan Square

One of the best ways to see the splendor of Dalian is to visit its squares. Of the many squares in Dalian, the Zhongshan Square is the oldest and most popular due to ancient European style buildings around circling it. The square was designed and built in the 19th century by the Russians; and the old buildings on the square were built by the Japanese in the 20th century. Before it was renamed, the square was called Nicholas Square.
