| Tipping: |
If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides and drivers a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many Intrepid Urban Adventures destinations. Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this trip. |
Itinerary
| Details: |
No visit to Beijing is complete without walking along the snaking Great Wall of China, so escape the busy city streets and experience one of the great wonders of the world. Beat the early morning traffic with an early pickup and head outside the city. Arrive at Mutianyu, a mostly restored but still spectacular section of the wall, and take a moment to take in this incredible view. It's a short hike up onto the wall but the climb is worth it as you'll be rewarded with amazing views of the wall stretching through the surrounding countryside. Learn about some of the wall’s myths and legends from your local guide as you trek to the watchtowers, which offer even more spectacular views. Although there are a lot of steep steps in places, tackle it at your own pace as you soak up the magnitude of this feat of engineering. At the end of the walk, choose to walk back or, for a different perspective, take the cable car or toboggan back down. After well and truly working up an appetite, head to a nearby village for a tasty local lunch and to try some Chinese specialties. With full tummies, start making the journey back to Beijing. Make one final stop and refresh your tired feet with a traditional reflexology foot massage. This is sure to leave you completely relaxed after this active tour of the Great Wall of China. |
